Established in 1936 in the delightful English spa town of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, James Brindley is owned and managed by the Grafton family. The family shares a proud ancestry and is related to the company’s namesake, James Brindley, a notable engineer during the Industrial Revolution, famous for engineering the first canals and aqueducts in the 1800’s. The original town centre lifestyle store is complemented by a purpose built office and wholesale facility on the outskirts of the town.
The four-storey retail showroom is located in Harrogate’s exclusive James Street and has gained an enviable reputation for selling wonderful fabrics, upholstery and interior accessories. Richard Grafton heads the interiors design service team, working with private and business customers alike. His opinions are widely respected and have been published by interior design industry and consumer press both at home and abroad.
James Brindley previously used PayPoint as their EPOS solution but were experiencing an increasing number of problems which made routine activities increasingly difficult to manage, especially as the business grew. The management team at James Brindley wanted an integrated system which could link to their existing IRIS Exchequer accounting software allowing them to operate from a single system and report on live sales figures.
After careful consideration, James Brindley decided that KCPOS was the best solution for them. KCPOS had all the functionality they needed and met all of their standards. James Brindley implemented five tills at their Harrogate retail store and later implemented another till at their store in Wetherby. All six tills were linked together and integrated with their existing accounts software, IRIS Exchequer.
KCPOS has enabled James Brindley to operate their business through a single system and allows them to identify areas in which their performance can be improved by looking at trends in their sales. With a live link between all six tills and their IRIS Exchequer accounts software, James Brindley can now control every area of their business through the use of one system.
The comprehensive report writer within KCPOS allows them to report on almost any aspect of their business from a central location, simply and efficiently. This integration of KCPOS tills gives James Brindley piece of mind that as their business expands, additional tills can be easily added. Another benefit James Brindley have experienced since installing KCPOS was its ease of use; all staff have needed minimal training on the system. This has been very beneficial as it makes day to day processes much simpler and quicker.

Since the initial installation James Brindley expanded their system, opening a new store in Wetherby and implementing an additional till. In the future, they hope to expand their KCPOS system as and when their business grows, continuing to operate from a single system.
